Eben Dӧnges Primary School visited Arendsnes from 11-13 November for a Leadership development camp. They enjoyed activities like archery; stalking the lantern, target shooting, raft building and many more. They also got to know each other a lot better with more personal teachings like knowing themselves (finding out what their strong points and weaknesses are), learning how to communicate, handling conflict and the part they enjoyed the most, the problem solving course. On Saturday the team was exhausted. So we decided to have a little fun by competing in a play station sing star competition. It was a huge pleasure to be accompanied by Mr. Johan van Niekerk and Misses Thea Kruger who had a watchful eye over this team of leaders. It’s awesome to see that the teachers have such a good relationship with their pupils. I think what the kids loved the most was the fact that the teachers actually participated in the obstacle courses. My God bless and guide you this year and we can’t wait to see you guys next time!!

Arendsnes - Sport School, Adventure Centre and Game Lodge Arendsnes Caravan Park Now Open!!

With more than 300 people attending the annual Eco Camp, organized by the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, this past weekend was a bee hive of activity. The group arrived on Friday afternoon and started settling in. Everyone was welcomed to Arendsnes with a big bon fire before having supper. On Saturday it was an early start to the day, when they explored the bushveld, learning everything about plants and animals. After breakfast it was down to more serious discussions when the MEC spoke about environmental affairs. The group broke up into smaller groups, getting lectures on waste management, Environmental legislation, Environmental health, Biodiversity conservation, Indigenous knowledge systems and Climate change. Sunday was more relaxed and everyone said their goodbyes and declared the Eco Camp 2011 a big success! We at Arendsnes are very proud to contribute to conservation and the environment by hosting Bojanala and helping them with their important mission to teach our youth.

On the 4^th of June Arendsnes hosted the Brits branch of the Boeremusiekgilde from North-West. It was a festive atmosphere that started on Friday the 3^rd when people avoid the traffic by staying overnight in our chalets and newly developed caravan park. Braai fires lit up the camp and the smell of freshly braaied steaks swerved over the beautiful bushveld. On Saturday it was the musicians turn to play music from early in the morning. During the day food and refreshment stands catered for all tastes while the goods stands catered for the shopaholics with paintings, clothes and more. The weekend ended on a high note during the dance that started at seven. Chairman Jaco Eckard said “This weekend was a huge success people must keep the date in mind for next year. It will definitely be bigger and better”

Hoërskool Garsfontein visited Arendsnes from 06-08 May this year with their schools First Aid team. The children enjoyed activities like raft building, archery, stalking the lantern and a number of obstacle courses. But it wasn’t just all play. They got some practical lessons and advice from their well experienced role model mister Roelof Vorster under the watch full eye of misses Linda van der Nest, the leader of this pack, together with rooky miss Dorene van der Merwe. Arendsnes - Sport School, Adventure Centre and Game Lodge First Aid Team Camp At Arendsnes!

Arendsnes held their annual sport clinics in the school holidays from 22 March to 09 April 2011. Primary as well as high schools from all over South Africa took part in this unique opportunity created by Arendsnes. Over 1 000 children, from 30 different schools, representing 6 provinces in SA took part in 3 different sport codes namely, rugby, netball and hockey, with the school who travelled the furthest, coming from LS Postmansburg in the Northern Cape. The teams and their coaches got pointers from some of SA’s most respectful coaches and included names like Nico Serfontein, Ian Macdonald, Charl du Plessis, Tracey Ehlers and Murili Gernandt. Coaching sessions took place in the mornings and games were played in the afternoon to test all the skills they’ve learnt, with fun and relaxing programs after supper. Arendsnes want to use this opportunity to thank Brits Nissan for sponsoring our rugby equipment in the form of post protectors and corner flags; this is much appreciated, thank you Lohan and Pieter. We also want to thank all the schools participating in this year’s sport clinics for their support and want to remind them of our saying: “that you only come to Arendsnes once as a client, thereafter you come as a friend for life”

Arendsnes announced their rugby coaches for March and April rugby clinics 2011. Heading the coaching staff will be former Blue Bulls and victorious Vodacom cup winning coach of 2008 & 2010 season, Nico Serfontein. Nico, currently the high performance manager at the Lions Rugby Union, will be supported by high profile professional coaches from the Lions. Amongst these coaches are Ian Macdonald (former Springbok number 7), Hans Coetzee (former Currie Cup & Super rugby coach and currently the Lions Jnr Pro Head coach), Charl Du Plessis (Lions Skills coach), Tim Goodwin (Lions Defence coach), Deon Davids (Vodacom and Lions u/21 Head coach), Stefan Louwrens (Botter) (Lions u/18 Head coach) and Carl Spilhaus (Lions u/18 Academy Head coach, Investec Academy). We are looking forward to this year’s rugby clinics at Arendsnes.

Our Name

ARENDSNES is situated close to the Crocodile River and the Roodekopjès dam where there are a number of fish species. These fish species are a great attraction to a variety of bird life. One of these beautiful birds is the African Fish Eagle that can be heard from Arendnes when they are on one of their majestical flights.
